Day 37 | Calorie Cycling to Break Weight Loss Plateau

Yesterday’s experiment was to increase my calorie intake for one day to trick my body and get it out of starvation mode.  I’ve been trying to keep a large calorie deficit going every day, and I had hit a small plateau.    One thing I had read was to try cycling my calories so that my body wouldn’t think it was starving.  When your body thinks it is starving, it will hang out to the weight in order to protect itself.  So, yesterday I had a slight calorie surplus (nearly 200 calories) just to see what would happen.

Well it seemed to work.  I woke up 1.2 pounds lighter than the day before.  I may try to have a day like this once or twice a month just to keep my body from thinking it’s starving.

I went for a 3 mile run today on the treadmill.   I’m starting to get bored of running on the treadmill.  So I went to a store and bought some running clothes that will allow me to run outside in the cold.  These are the pants I got:  Nike Women’s Be Strong Dri-Fit Cotton Pant.  I can’t find a link for the awesome shirt that I bought.  It is a Nike Dri-Fit hoodie with thumb holes to keep most of my hands warm.  So cleaver!  I will try the new outfit out tomorrow to see if it will be warm enough.  I think I’ll be able to run when it’s down to 30 degrees out.  The shirt not only has thumb holes, but it has a great hood as well that does not look like it will come off in a wind gust.
