I have been sidelined for over a week with a terrible chest cold. It has been rough. I am finally starting to feel okay and will start exercising again tomorrow. I really miss it. I have had a couple of stressful days this past week that I know would have been made better by running. Running always mitigates stress.
Also, I really want to start trying calorie cycling. I got some good advice on the subject and I will write a post about that tomorrow. I have managed to keep losing weight during my cold. I consider that to be a huge victory. In my past, when I would get a cold or the flu, I would be set back two weeks in my weight loss. I would actually gain weight. But this time, I kept a close eye and didn’t indulge in many comfort foods, so I did quite well.
I did a bit of research to see if you burn more calories when you’re sick. I was thinking that since the body actually had to “fight” off the illness that it was working harder. The conclusion: probably not. Oh well, it was a nice thought.
