I lost a pet this week. My dog died. It wasn’t unexpected, and it was inevitable due to his age, but it was still very sad. I found that continuing with my exercise regiment really helped my sadness. Part of being sad is feeling helpless and when I was working out I did not feel helpless. I had something to do with my raw energy. I also found that I worked out harder and had more focus than normal.
I’m not saying you’ll get to skip the necessary stages of grieving, but I do think that when in the throws of grief, exercise seems to take the edge off.
